Yesterday we hosted for the first time a public presentation of the Capstone projects of our History senior students.
The NU Provost, Ms Anne Lonsdale, did us the honour to come and listen to the presentations. Many undergraduate students from History and other majors were there, together with some Eurasian Studies MA students and many Faculty members.
Madina Bizhanova (top), Alen Askar, and Adina Tulegenova presented their capstone dissertations, respectively titled: “Class ascription in Mailin’s novels”, “Ahmed Khoja Yasawi in Turkish scholarship”, and “Re-reading Ibrai Altynsarin”.
The discussion was lively, with real questions and objections from the audience. This was also an opportunity to celebrate our students’ achievements, as some of Alen’s friends made clear in their own way (below).
